‘Lupine III’ He will return in 2023 with a new coup and a group of thieves as rivals, but it is not the only project he has in sight. The latest movies and series have been leaving us with a slightly more “vintage” and timeless aftertaste as we approach the time when the manga of Monkey Punchbut his new anime is going to take us even a little bit earlier with a prequel focused on Lupin’s youth.
Back in the 60’s
‘Lupine Zero‘ is the title of the prequel to ‘Lupine III’ that TMS Entertainment is already preparing. In principle it will be a limited anime of 6 episodes which will be released next December. There is no specific date, but the idea is that the series starts before the end of the year.
The first trailer that has been seen of ‘Lupine Zero’ looks quite promising with a taste of classic anime, and also has several veterans who have been working on the productions of ‘Lupine III’ for years. Through this short story we will see Lupine’s childhood and his beginnings as a white-collar thief, combining some scenes from the manga with new stories during the 1960s.
Daisuke Sakōwho has already been in charge of directing the animation of ‘Lupine III: Part 5’ and ‘Lupine III: Italian Game’, is in charge of the project together with ichiro okouchi (‘Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion’), who is supervising and writing the series. Telecom Animation Film will take care of the main animation.
In the United States it seems that it will be possible to see it through HIDIVE, and since the platform is also available in Spain, it is possible that we will also be able to see it, as has happened with the simulcast of ‘Urusei Yatsura’.
