The wait for new secrets is over! After almost two long years of the announcement of a reboot of Pretty Little Liars (PLL), the series returns in a completely new version to HBO Max under the name of Pretty Little Liars: A New Sin.
It is a successful television series that has redefined the canons of teen drama and mystery. Released worldwide in 2010, it has been (and is!) a real craze since the broadcast of its first episodes and after its insurmountable final chapter, in 2017.
The success of Pretty Little Liars
The acclaimed show took us to the small town of Rosewood, where the group of teenagers made up of Aria, Hanna, Emily and Spencer try to solve the mystery that surrounds the disappearance and presumed death of their best friend and leader of the group, Alison.
However, the drama takes an unexpected turn when they receive messages from someone mysterious who calls himself “A”, who knows their darkest secrets. The enigmatic “A” promises to expose them all, manipulates and blackmails them to achieve his goal: unmask the culprit of Alison’s murder / disappearance.
The four friends go through tests as hard as they are surreal. Sinking into his lies about the night of Alison’s disappearance, their friendship falls apart in order to preserve their secrets and unmask “A”, putting fans on edge for seven seasons, due to which, the fervor by Pretty Little Liars remains current.
Due to its critical and audience success, the series inspired and continues to inspire new creations. Among them are two spin-offs: Ravenswood, in 2014, and Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, in 2019. In addition, there is the most recent reboot Pretty Little Liars: A new sin, which arrives through HBO Max after five long years.
But now that the cult teen drama has finally made its big comeback, it’s time to catch up for some new thrills.
If you have been intrigued by the captivating plot of PLL or you want to relive the mystery to get fully acquainted with the new group of liars, you can find its seven complete seasons on HBO Max. The streaming platform has the collection available in its catalog, so run to see them!
What will we see in Pretty Little Liars: A New Sin?
Behind this new and promising creation is the executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale and The hidden world of Sabrina), who revealed that the series will have much more horror and the teaser seems to confirm it, since the chilling darkness of the trailer is framed by a mysterious person analyzing information about the main characters, as well as a poster of a missing teenager.
Will “A” come back?
According to the official synopsis, the new horror-tinged drama is set in the working-class town of Millwood, “miles away from Rosewood” but within the existing Pretty Little Liars universe.
The new version of “A” has problems with the city of Millwood, which two decades ago was the scene of a series of tragic events. In the present, a whole new group of teenage liars are tormented by an “unknown assailant” who will make them pay for the secret sin committed by their parents 20 years ago and for their own failings.
Once again, HBO Max delights us with great productions, because beyond its emblematic original series such as Love Life, The Flight Attendant and Euphoria, which evoke the most intense emotions due to their incredible stories and great casts, Pretty Little Liars: A new sin continues with the trend to which the platform has accustomed us.
In addition to a great plot, this reboot brings with it a new generation of liars made up of a brand new cast that includes Bailee Madison (Imogen), Chandler Kinney (Tabby), Zaria (Faran), Malia Pyles (Minnie) and Maia Reficco (Noa ).
Pretty Little Liars: A New Sin will have eight episodes. The first three landed on HBO Max on July 28, followed by two episodes to premiere on August 4 and 11, and the last three will be available until August 18. Would you be able to hide secrets as big as theirs?
