The Mexican sports car is in mourning, because in the early morning of January 29, the car driver Federico Gutiérrez Hoppe, better known as “Fico”, just 17 years old, lost his life after a car accident on the Toluca-Toluca toll road. Valle de Bravo, in the State of Mexico.
The Mexican driver, who was the promise of NASCAR, suffered the fatal accident while traveling with his older brother Max Gutiérrez in his luxurious sports car when he suddenly collided with a Ford truck that had elderly people as crew members.
The official account of the NASCAR Mexico Series confirmed the death of “Fico” Gutiérrez on January 30 via Twitter. Media said that the young pilot was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, while his brother was taken to the hospital, where his state of health is reported to be stable.
In the fatal accident there were several injuries, including a 41-year-old woman who was trapped, but managed to be rescued and taken to receive medical attention. In addition, an 80-year-old man and his 65-year-old wife were traveling in the Ford truck, one of them also being taken to the hospital.

Federico Gutiérrez Hoppe had a long career in the world of motorsports despite his young age, he was sponsored by the Telmex Team and between 2010 and 2018 he competed in numerous races. go-karting. At the age of 13, he had already won two races on the Notiauto Cup circuit and in 2019 he became the youngest driver to team up with his brother Max in the “24 hours of Mexico”.
