Warner I hoped that ‘Flash’ would be the movie that would revive the public’s interest in DC. The studio had bet heavily on a film marked by the controversies starring in real life by ezra millerbut it has not been enough to prevent it from crashing at the box office with a revenue in the United States of just 55 million dollars during its first weekend in theaters.
It’s all bad data for ‘Flash’
Those 55 million remain below the 70 that Warner expected to achieve, a figure that was already quite pessimistic. After all, ‘Black Adam’ debuted with 67 million and ended up being a box office disappointment, giving way to a confrontation of dwayne johnson with the study on the presumed profitability of the film.
In addition, ‘Flash’ has not done exactly well internationally either, since in the rest of the world it has added an additional 75 million when it was expected to be between 85 and 95 million. That leads to ‘Flash having made about 140 million in his first weekend, thus falling far behind the 225 million that ‘Black Adam’ did at the time. Bad news for Warner.
To all this we must add that the public in the United States has rated it with the same note that ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’, ‘Eternals’, ‘Green Lantern’ and ‘Batman v Superman: The Dawn of Justice’. All of them suffered strong drops during their second weekend, so everything looks bad for ‘Flash’. Let’s not forget that on top of that it cost a whopping 220 million dollars.
