The Sandman series is knocking at the door, and despite the fact that even Neil Gaiman himself has declared the closeness between the two works, acts as producer and wrote the first episode, many still doubt the fidelity of the Netflix series. Therefore, we show you the name of the chapters of season 1 of The Sandman and on which comics they could be based.
1 “Sleep of the Just”
“The dream of the righteous” is the name of Sandman # 1, the comic started in 1989, written by Neil Gaiman and drawn by Sam Kieth. In his story, we see the capture of Morpheus by Roderick Burgess until his distant release.
2 “Imperfect Hosts”
It is number 2 of Sandman, which repeats the team of Neil Gaiman and Sam Kieth. In its pages, we see a deteriorated Morpheus arrive in the snout of the gargoyle Gregory at the House of Mystery, where Cain and Abel receive the King of Dreams. After this, we meet the librarian Lucien and the ruined castle of Morpheus.
3 “Dream a Little Dream of Me”
As well as being a song immortalized by Doris Day, it is also the name of the third issue of Sandman, where we see John Constantine accompany Morpheus to retrieve his sandbag, one of his power objects. It also introduces us to Mad Hettie.
4 “A Hope in Hell”
It is number 4 of the series and the comic. Morpheus must travel to hell itself to retrieve his helmet, and will have an encounter with Lucifer himself.
5 “24/7”
Teaming up with cartoonist Mike Dringenberg, issue 6 of the Sandman comic is also one of the most terrifying, presenting the day of torture to which customers of a cafeteria are subjected by the deranged John Dee. Surely we will see gathered in this chapter the story told in issues 5 and 6. This is one of the most anticipated chapters of The Sandman.
6 “The Sound of Her Wings”
In issue #8, we meet one of the most unforgettable characters in comics: Morpheus’ older sister Death, in a story where Gaiman teams up with Mike Dringenberg. This is another of the most anticipated chapters of The Sandman.
7 “The Doll’s House”
Issue 10 begins the saga of Rose Walker, who is searching for her brother. It is also about the introduction of Desire and Despair, as well as Gilbert and Corinthian.
8 “Play House”
We are talking about number 12, illustrated by Crish Bachalo, it is the third part of La Casa de la Muneca, with the dangerous Corinthian stalking and focused on Lyta Hall and her husband Héctor.
9 “Collectors”
Part 5 of The Doll’s House was published in issue 14, where Rose Walker, in search of her brother, visits a serial killer convention.
10 “Lost Hearts”
Sandman issue #16 ends Rose Walker’s arc.
