Several weeks ago the news broke that Warner Bros. studios plan to produce more films based on the “Lord of the Rings” book series, written by JRR Tolkienafter two trilogies directed by Peter Jackson which have become one of the most successful in the history of cinema. now the actor Elijah Woodwho gained worldwide fame thanks to his interpretation of the character “Frodo Baggins”, gave his opinion about that project.
Interviewed by the magazine G.Q., Wood (42 years old) commented that this news took him by surprise: “I am fascinated and excited. I hope (the plan) is good. I’m surprised, although of course, there would be more movies…At the bottom of that there is a desire to earn a lot of money, of course it is business… but great art can come from businessSo those two things are not mutually exclusive.
But there is something in which Elijah was very clear: that Tolkien’s vision is respected at all times in the material brought to the screen: “Peter Jackson’s movies grew out of a passion for those books and wanting to see them made. And I hope that’s ultimately what drives everything forward in terms of these subsequent movies. I just hope it’s that same motivating factor, every time they hire a writer and director, Let it be with reverence for Tolkien’s material and enthusiasm for exploring it.” At the moment Elijah Wood works on the hit TV series Yellowjacketsin which he shares credits with juliette lewis, christina ricci and Melanie Lynskey.
