Marco Antonio Solis Sosathe Mexican who is a pioneer of the romantic ballad, producer, composer and singer, is better known as “El Buki”.
But really, what does this nickname mean? “The Buki”?
The birth of this nickname was during his participation in 1975 in the group “Los Bukis”, which was also made up of his cousin Joel Solis, this is derived from the most colloquial way to call a child or a young person in the northwestern region of Mexico, mostly in the state of Sonora.
Because the group was made up of minors, they decided on this name.
“Paperboard houses” (which was later titled “Falso amor”) was their debut album and with it they were immediately successful. The theme “Falso amor” was the favorite of the public.
“Los Bukis” after selling 17 albums and having 22 years in the marketdecided to put an end to their career as a group.
It is from that moment that “El Buki” began his solo career on May 19, 1996, with the album “In full flight”which gave him a Lo Nuestro Award for Excellence.
In 1997, he released his second album, “La venia bendita”, which was in first place on the charts US musicals for 25 weeks.
The man born in Michoacán has devoted himself to trying different facets in his artistic career, which is why he has dedicated himself to to write songs at the time for “Los Bukis”, and for telenovelas such as “El perdedor” by Enrique Iglesias and “Where are we going to stop” by “Teresa”.
The Mexican has also made film works, among them the most recognized are “La coyota”, “How I went to fall in love with you”, “Las musiqueras”, among others.
In 2017, he did the dubbing for the character of Ernesto de la Cruz in the movie “Coco”.
