If a few days ago we discovered the 11 corners that we had to know in Valencia, today we are not going very far and we stay in the Valencian Community to do the same with another of its great cities: Alicante.
Thus, today we want to know which places we would have to visit in the city to be able to say that we know it and, all this, without prejudice to the fact that there is much more, I assure you.
Santa Barbara Castle

We start with the castle of Santa Bárbara, which is one of the symbols of the city of Alicante and which we find in the heart of the city. In fact, from the Postiguet beach you can see its profile, known as the face of the Moor and then from above we can see a wonderful panoramic view of the city.
Central Market

It must be recognized that visiting the Central Market of a city is always a good idea since it gives us many clues about all the good things about its gastronomy, its people and much more. But it is that we also find buildings like this one in Alicante of modernist inspiration that has become a monument of the city and that also pays tribute to the more than 300 victims of the bombing suffered in the area during the Civil War in May 1938.
Las Cigarreras Cultural Center

Another point in Alicante worth seeing is the Las Cigarreras Cultural Center Created at the beginning of the 19th century in what was the popular Tabacalera. It is a truly stupendous architectural ensemble where the mythical cigars are no longer made, but instead houses a cultural center worthy of the space it occupies.
City hall

One of the images that you cannot miss from your visit to Alicante is the City Hall at night with the Castle of Santa Bárbara illuminated behind. It is certainly a show.
Plaza de los Luceros

There are many squares that we could visit in Alicante such as the Plaza Gabriel Miró, the Portal de Elche, the Canalejas park, but one of the most emblematic is the Plaza de los Luceros right in the center and where the typical mascletás of the big festivals of Alicante take place, the Fogueres de Sant Joan.
Basilica of Santa Maria

In the area of the historic center of the city (which we will have to visit) we find the Basilica of Santa María, which is the oldest religious construction in the city of Alicante, dating from the 14th century. It was built on the remains of the largest Islamic mosque in Alicante and is worth visiting, as well as the Co-Cathedral of San Nicolás or the hermitages of Santa Cruz and San Roque.
The Esplanade of Spain

And, of course, you cannot miss a walk through the Esplanade of Spain which is one of the emblems of the city of Alicante thanks to its more than 6 million marble tiles of three colors that imitate the waves of the sea and runs parallel to one of the port quays. Of course, while you walk, do not forget to take a look at the beautiful Casa Carbonell.
Beaches

And, of course, we cannot leave Alicante without visiting its beaches. In this sense, depending on who we ask, one or the other will tell us from the San Juan Beach, the coves of Cabo de la Huerta, Almadraba, Albufereta, Postiguet Beach and Saladares-Urbanova Beach, Agua Amarga Beach (The beach for dogs)… We have a lot to choose from and each one with a great charm.
