Avengers: Endgame could have had a different ending. In fact, Doctor Strange 2 proved that it was possible in the Marvel Universe.
Doc Strange 2 showed an alternate ending for Avengers: Infinity War Y Avengers: Endgame. In that alternate ending, Thanos was defeated in Earth-838. That flashback showed how illuminati from Marvel Studios defeated the legendary villain on his home world, Titan. The shot showed the villain with his double-bladed sword stuck in his chest. The Illuminati used the vishanti book to get out of the battle. In it, the Professor X, Captain Carter, Maria Rambeau, Black Lightning, mr fantastic and the Sorcerer Supreme prevented Thanos from completing the Infinity Gauntlet and, therefore, would end, with half of the life in the galaxy.
This happened after Stephen Strange will use the dark hold to walk in dreams through the multiverse. They tell us in Doc Strange 2 that you used a different plan than the one you choose ours in Avengers: Infinity War. In our world, Thanos won and wiped out fifty percent of the living population for five years. Strange gave him the Time Gem to Thanos after stabbing Hombre de Hierroan act that was key later to defeat him in Avengers: Endgame. They embark on time travel, restoring life to the universe and taking down Thanos’ army and the villain himself.
The differences between one universe and another
If we look at the flashback of Doc Strange 2it seems that Thanos was going to replicate what he did in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but in this universe. He was fighting the Illuminati on Titan. It’s hard to tell how many Infinity Stones he had at the time, but he does have the golden gauntlet that Eitri made him in Nidavellir. That probably means it’s a very similar time to the one we live in Avengers: Infinity War and that led us to Avengers: Endgame.
Seeing that the Book of Vishanti had the ability to grant the reader everything they need to achieve their goals, the Illuminati probably did not have to endure the five years of hardship we saw in Avengers: Endgame. Nor did they have to go back in time to obtain the ancient versions of the Infinity Stones like the avengers. It is possible that in Doc Strange 2 They would finish off Thanos even before he set foot on the Earth of that universe. There would never have been a click.
This also happened before Mordo was part of the Illuminati. So it doesn’t seem like any of the other Avengers or even the Guardians of the Galaxy were involved in the battle against Thanos, unlike Avengers: Endgame. It makes sense for this universe presented in Doc Strange 2but in TheDirect A very interesting question has been asked. What happened in all those alternate futures that the Sorcerer Supreme allegedly saw in Avengers: Infinity War?
Strange’s big moment in ‘Infinity War’
In Avengers: Infinity War, Strange makes it clear that there was only one way to defeat Thanos. One among more than fourteen million options that he analyzed. Avengers: Endgame revealed that this included the Avengers discovering time travel, going back in time for the gems, creating a technological gauntlet with Tony Stark and bringing everyone back to life before Iron Man snaps his fingers and sacrifices himself to kill Thanos once and for all.
Doc Strange 2 seems to show, however, an alternative way to finish off Thanos, different from the one we saw in Avengers: Endgame. However, why wasn’t that possibility shown to Stephen Strange when he surveyed the universes? We do not know. It is still a mystery. It could be attributed to the Earth-616 was not in danger of incursion or any other type of multiversal interaction before Spider-Man: No Way Home. And, therefore, that information was vetoed.
It could also be that Strange could only have access to successful futures that are feasible in his own universe, not others. Getting the Book of Vishanti on Earth-616 was not possible in Avengers: Infinity War. Or, perhaps it was just an option because specific members of the Illuminati were in the Earth-838. Be that as it may, everything remains up in the air, but it is very interesting the way in which Doc Strange 2 has served to show a different story from that of Avengers: Endgame.
