The colossal and mythical ape par excellence is preparing his jump to television and, this time, we hope it will be the definitive one. Disney+ is developing a King Kong series, which would be the first live-action fiction based on this universe.
Being in an early stage of development, there are not too many details about the project. But it is known, according to Deadline exclusively, that Atomic Monster, the producer of james wanwill be responsible and that stephanie folsom (‘Paper Girls’) is in charge of the script.
Journey to the origins
‘King Kong’ (working title) will explore the mythology of the origin of the monster and the mysteries of his home as we return to Skull Island and the rise of a new Kong. For this they promise to approach the original work of Merian C. Cooper and the most recent novelizations of Joe DeVito.
It’s not the first time we’ve had an attempt to bring King Kong to the small screen. Five years ago there was a threat at the dawn of ‘Kong: Skull Island’ with another creative team. As you can imagine, everything came to nothing. Yes we can currently see an anime on Netflix.
