It is true that in the DC Comics movies produced at the end of the 20th century, especially those of Batman from the Burton-Schumacher saga, it was very difficult to find references to other heroes from the same publisher.
However Tim Burton was in charge of subtly hiding an easter egg referring to Flash within the plot of Batman Returns. We ask you to watch this Batman Returns video, and try not to blink.
If you were a good observer, you noticed that at the masquerade party one of the guests wore a hat with wings, similar to the one worn by Jay Garrick, the first Flash in the history of the DC Universe.
This reference that the team headed by Tim Burton placed in this sequence was not intended to indicate possible future projects, even the crossover of DC heroes was not thought of until 2016 with Batman v Superman.
Batman Returns…and the Flash too
Three decades later Flash will cross Batman’s path again in the premiere of The Flash, a film that will see the return of Michael Keaton as Bat Man.
With the script by Christina Hodson, The Flash will be directed by Argentine filmmaker Andrés Muschetti and will have Ezra Miller in the role of Barry Allen / Flash.
Also present will be Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, and Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck, both as Bruce Wayne / Batman.
The Flash will hit theaters on June 23, 2023.
