The Flash reached the end of its eighth season, and Green Lantern’s debut within the Arrowverse was at the time put on hold with the end of John Diggle’s arc.
The eighth season of the Flash has come to an end, and probably with this outcome the possible arc that would introduce Green Lantern within the Arrowverse, something that had been anticipated with the end of Arrow, has also ended.

In the final moments of the final episode of the eighth season of The Flash we see John Diggle (David Ramsey) and Eobard Thawne (Tom Cavanagh), in a talk where the bearer of the Reverse Flash mantle is locked up.
Diggle carries the mysterious artifact that radiates a green light inside it, and after talking with Thawne, Diggle decides not to use this artifact, which for now cancels the appearance of the Green Lantern corporation in the show.
Eric Wallace, shworunner of The Flash, explained the reasons why the end of the eighth season did not see the debut of Green Lantern in the Arrowverse, and this will probably not happen in the ninth season.
“We were thinking, ‘Oh my God, we have to do this because maybe no one gets a chance to do it! … I talked to David (Ramsey) myself and said, ‘I’d like to bring some closure to this,’ and he was completely on board. favour. And when I told him what we had planned, he thought it sounded fantastic.”.
Emerald justice will have to wait
Wallace revealed that The Flash’s season eight finale arc was written before the CW announced the show’s renewal for another season.
“I’m a comic book nerd and I wanted to plant some Blackest Night seeds, and that Diggle moment helped me do that… But I don’t know if we’ll ever get to that”
DC Comics has planned the production of the Green Lantern series, which already has part of its cast, but it is unknown when the filming will start. This series will arrive for the HBO Max platform.
The eighth season of The Flash is currently airing on the CW in the United States. In Mexico and Latin America, the eighth season can be seen on the cable channel Warner Channel.
