last february 3 Pablo Lyle was sentenced to five years in prison for the involuntary manslaughter of Juan Ricardo Hernándeza man who died as a result of a blow that the actor gave him after a traffic incident in March 2019. However, the sentence imposed by Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez could be modified because Lyle’s legal team will file an appeal because they say he is innocent and was only defending his family.
This was announced by the lawyer Phill Reizenstein, in charge of formalizing the petition, who during an interview with the “Ventaneando” program revealed what resources they will use in favor of Pablo Lyle in this new phase of the case.
“What I will tell you is that in my opinion his conviction was wrong and still is. Of course we are going to appeal, he is innocent, he didn’t break Florida state law, he was just defending his family. It’s crazy that some prosecutors would ask for a 15-year sentence for someone who doesn’t have a criminal record. This has nothing to do with the Hernández family, we understand what they are asking for, they lost a loved one and it is logical. But the court prosecutors they should seek justice and not revenge“, he explained.
Likewise, he reiterated that the only cause of the altercation was Mr. Juan Ricardo Hernández, who got out of his car despite the laws that apply in the State of Florida.
“(The sentence is unfair) because there were children in that car, ask yourselves this: ‘Would we be here if Mr. Hernández hadn’t gotten out of his car?’. Florida does not tolerate that there are angry people in car incidents and they get out to hit windows, that terrified the children, ”he added minutes after the sentence for the actor was announced.
Finally, he was emphatic in assuring that he would be the one to file the appeal, since he is sure that it was Mr. Hernández who unfortunately caused this incident because “perhaps he was a good person in his life, but he should not have gotten off.”
For his part, lawyer David Oscar Marcus, in an interview with the Al Rojo Vivo program, confirmed that they have a period of 30 days to start the appeal process, in addition to agreeing that the sentence was not even fair, since “Pablo was defending to his family from the beginning as any father in the world would.
