The city authorities want to create an erotic center with 100 seats that it would have spaces for the work breaks of the workers.
“We do not agree at all with the solutions they propose and impose, they do not even negotiate” with the sector, he told AFP Sabrina Sanchez, a sex worker.
“We do not want to be transferred, neither in an erotic center nor in any other place“, declared another worker on condition of anonymity.
“Do something against drug dealers, do something against disrespectful behavior,” he added, reading a petition to the mayor.
“Moving away will not solve the problem, it will simply relocate it,” he insisted.
The mayoress replied that they were not to blame and that the problem was related to “excessive tourism, crime and other problems.”
“The situation in the center becomes very problematic and we must find a solution“, he declared.
Authorities announced on Tuesday the launch of a campaign to discourage tourists from visiting the city just to party, drink or get high and visit the famous red light district.
The city also announced that it will ban the use of cannabis on the streets of this area.
