One of the projects that attracted the most attention in the announcements that James Gunn revealed in relation to Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters of the DC Universe was Swamp Thing, a film that will bring DC horror to the big screen and which already has its director, James Mangold.

Swamp Thing has become one of the icons of horror in the DC Universe and with the Vertigo label, in a saga that writer Alan Moore took to the horns of the moon.
The site The Hollywood Reporter reported that DC Studios has entered negotiations with James Mangold to become the director of the movie Swamp Thing. This information was confirmed by the filmmaker with a publication on his social media profile.

James Mangold is the filmmaker behind movies like Ford vs. Ferrari, Kate and Leopold, The Wolverine and Logan, the latter nominated for an Oscar for Best Screenplay.
Swamp Thing first appeared in the pages of House of Secrets #92 (1971), thanks to a story written by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, where we met Alex Olsen, a scientist working on a biorestorative formula when thieves they attacked him in his lab.
Upon emerging from the Swamp, the human figure of Alex Olsen disappeared to make way for Swamp Thing, the ecology vigilante.
Swamp Thing, the hero who returns to the cinema
In 1982, Wes Craven brought Swamp Thing to the big screen, becoming the second DC Comics character to have a movie, after the success of Superman in 1978.
Wes Craven was eager to prove to the Hollywood film community that he could direct a straightforward action movie, and thus he moved away from his dark reputation for horror, even though Swamp Thing is certainly darker than Superman.
Swamp Thimg recently had its eight-episode series on the DC Universe digital platform, which was later broadcast on television channels such as CW and Cinemax in Latin America.
James Gunn announced that one of the first projects for Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters will be Swamp Thing, a film that will explore the origins and horror of the creature.
