Every cycle has a beginning and an end, and Drax’s path in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to end, as revealed by Dave Bautista himself.
Dave Bautista’s path at Marvel Studios began in 2014 when he gave life to Drax the Destroyer, the character created by Jim Starlin, who was part of the first lineup of Guardians of the Galaxy, a film directed by filmmaker James Gunn.

After two more Guardians of the Galaxy movies, as well as Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Thor: Love and Thunder, Drax’s story will culminate in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Through his Instagram account, Dave Bautista shared a photo with the cast and director of Guardians of the Galaxy, accompanied by a message confirming that it will be the last time he brings Drax to life.
“I haven’t found the words yet. It ended so suddenly and I was on my next movie before I could process it all. End of a trip that changed my life”.

James Gunn himself confirmed in 2020 that Dave Bautista would return to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, after the same actor stated that he would leave the project if Gunn was not the director.
In recent days, actress Karen Gillan, who gives life to Nebula, also shared a message that would indicate the end of Thanos’s daughter on her way through the MCU.
Cut and stay!
In recent days, the filmmaker James Gunn shared a photograph with the clapperboard of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, with which he announced the end of the filming.
“After over 100 days of filming and over 3,000 shots, this is the slate for the final shot of #GotGVol3, brought to me by the camera crew. It was an easy shot of Rocket sitting down, first with Sean Gunn, and then nothing there, and it took everything in me not to cry on the spot… I’ll still be working with them for the next year until release, but shooting that last shot was a reminder of the warm impermanence of life and love, and how that impermanence makes it so precious, so valuable, and a good reason to be grateful for what I have right now“.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will feature a cast consisting of Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldaña as Gamora, David Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Racoon, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Pom Klementieff as Mantis and Karen Gillan as Nebula.
This production is joined by Will Poulter in the role of Adam Warlock and Chukwudi Iwuji, in a role yet to be revealed.
Under the direction of James Gunn, the Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas special will arrive in December on the Disney+ platform, while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
