Cuban reggaeton player José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar, better known as “The Taiger”was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine and methamphetamine while driving a car in Miami-Dade County, in southeast Florida, and faces two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, according to police reports.
According to South Florida Local 10 television, which cited the arrest report, police officers detained the musician Tuesday night during a traffic stop and methamphetamine and cocaine found in his car.
The arrest occurred in the city of Miami Spring, which belongs to the mentioned county.
The outlet indicates that “El Taiger”, a well-known Cuban trap and reggaeton singer based in Miami, was released after posting $10,000 bail.
The musician’s arraignment hearing is scheduled for April 27 before Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Carmen R. Cabarga, it was reported.
“El Taiger”, “one of the largest and most relevant exponents of the Cuban urban genre today on and off the island”, according to the singer’s official website, is known for the songs “Coronamos”, “Invictos ” and “Hear Me”.
In 2020, he recorded the song “El Gavilán” with the famous duo Gente de Zona, whose video clip has more than five million views on YouTube since its release. “El Taiger” added “Cuban flavor” to the soundtrack of the movie “Fate of the Furious” with scenes filmed in Havana, according to Billboard magazine in 2017.
