The Mutants It could be the title of the first X-men movie in the UCM, however, before becoming official, it has already generated controversy around this change.
Mutants Coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universeand although everything indicated that they would take time to do it, it seems that Marvel Studios is already working on the project, which will be titled The Mutants. Something long rumored since Marvel has been talking for some time about changing the name X-men for a more inclusive one, a joke made by the character of Mystique in X-men: Dark Phoenix.
According to dead linein an article published a few days ago, Kevin Feige could make it official at the Marvel presentation in Hall H, and if not at San Diego Comic Con this weekend, and if not, reserve the announcement for D23 which comes after SDCC.
However, criticism on social networks has not been long in coming, considering that the name change is due to gender equality issues, although other users more versed in the history of the house of ideas have been quick to point out that this was the original name that Stan Lee wanted to have given them at first. However, Marvel executives felt at the time that people would not understand the term. “mutants”. In Spain, however, X-men came as La patrol X, being a fully inclusive title that could well be used for a current movie of the super-heroic group of Mutants.
here some reactions
These kinds of asshole comments are why Stan Lee created the X-Men. The message is NOT to hate or fear those who are different and as Kamala Khan said at the end of Ms. Marvel: yet another label… https://t.co/himi6MCdVk

The X-Men become The Mutants for obvious reasons of equality (which is not the same in 1963 as in 2023) but, hey, in that we were more successful and pioneers around here with the X Patrol, egalitarian but maintaining the original X. 😏 pic.twitter.com/wP4QSMA4Ld

I want to see mutants in the UCM and I don’t care what they’re called #TheMutants which is what they are or X-Men which is just the name of a group of them. At this point I propose the homeland adaptation of Patrol-X pic.twitter.com/7nB2IGtjWQ

If anyone’s upset about The Mutants not being called “X-Men”, know this: We can’t have an X-Men film because the X-Men don’t exist yet. The X-Men don’t exist yet because the Mutants don’t exist yet. We didn’t get to an Avengers movie before the team was established.

For those who complain, this movie can be about the mutant race, how they came about, their beginnings, etc, it would make all the sense in the world to be called The Mutants and not X-Men, the latter is the name of the team and yes there is none in the movie, why would it be called that?

The X-Men have undergone a reinvention almost from scratch throughout recent times. The restart of Dawn of X which began in 2019 has been regarded as a perfect re-entry point into the X-Men live-action franchise. A title like The Mutants has suggested that Marvel Studios could do a broader exploration of the entire mutant community and world, before focusing on its iconic X-Men.
Stay tuned to our pages and social networks to keep up to date with everything that happens at SDCC. What do you think of the change of title from X-men to The Mutants?
