With news that surprised everyone, Constantine 2 is announced, with JJ Abrams as producer and the return of Keanu Reeves and Francis Lawrence.
As an exclusive, Deadline reported that Warner Bros is preparing Constantine 2, the sequel to the 2005 film that adapted the character created by Alan Moore and Stephen Bissette, and that Keanu Reeves would return as the lead actor and Francis Lawrence as director. Akiva Goldsman is also reportedly writing and producing with Bad Robot’s JJ Abrams and Hannah Minghella.

The source writes: “Warner Bros will develop another installment of the 2005 supernatural thriller Constantine, and the studio will re-team with star Keanu Reeves and director Francis Lawrence, who made his directorial debut on the original.”
Akiva Goldsman will write the script and produce the project through Weed Road Pictures, along with Bad Robot’s JJ Abrams and Hannah Minghella.
And the note continues: “When it was released 17 years ago, the film starring Reeves and based on the intricate DC character grossed more than $200 million at the 2005 box office worldwide. It opened up a world of potential, and fans have long been excited about a sequel. Reeves will reprise his role as supernatural exorcist and demonologist John Constantine, who in the original is dying but stays behind to save his soul by preventing the demons of hell from breaking into the earth. It also comes between a battle between the archangel Gabriel and Lucifer.”
