One of the questions regarding the spin-off series of The Batman, Penguin, is the number of episodes that the first season will have, a fact that Colin Farrell has revealed.
One of the projects that DC and Warner Bros continue to develop is the series The Penguin, which will focus on Oswald Cobblepot’s rise to the top of the underworld, and it is finally known how many episodes the first season of this season will have.
Do not miss: Colin Farrell confirms when the filming of The Penguin series begins
Penguin, the working title of the project, will pick up right where The Batman ended, with part of Gotham City under water after the explosions caused by Edward Nashton.
In an interview with Variety, Colin Farrell, star of this new project, confirmed how many episodes this first season will include.
“It’s going to be an eight part thing… Around Oz’s rise to power, filling that power vacuum created when Falcone was killed”
Second season on the horizon?
Farrell pointed out that if the series meets expectations with the public, a second season is already being considered, although it is unknown if it will take place before or after the premiere of The Batman – Part II, which will arrive in October 2025.
“Matt’s idea was for the Penguin show to start about a week after the end of the Batman movie. And if it works out, if the trajectory is interesting, and the audience accepts it, and we do our job well, the second feature of Penguin will pick up where the HBO show left off.”.
The producer of The Batman, Dylan Clark, spoke about the spin-off series that Warner Bros prepares about Penguin, which will feature Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepott.
“We’re doing one with Colin (Farrell), watching Oz rise to power, almost like a Scarface story… It’s exciting to do something like that alone, but it speaks to the character and our movie, so you’re going to go back to the movie and say, ‘ Oh I see that backstory there, that line refers to this”.
There is still no release date for Penguin, a series that will arrive through the digital platform HBO Max and which will begin filming in March 2023.
