South American Coldplay fans will have to wait a little longer to see the band, after eight upcoming shows were postponed to 2023. The group was scheduled to perform two shows in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on October 11 and 12 and six more shows in Sao Paulo, Brazil, between October 15 and 22, but now all have been postponed until 2023.
The group released a statement via their official Twitter and Instagram accounts revealing that the concerts had to be postponed due to their frontman Chris Martin contracting a serious lung infection.
“It is with deep regret that we have been forced to postpone our upcoming shows in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo until early 2023. Due to a severe lung infection, Chris was given strict medical orders to rest for the next three weeks,” reads a statement.
The group added that they are trying to “fix the new dates and will follow up with more information in the coming days.”
“To everyone in Brazil who was looking forward to these concerts, we are very sorry for any disappointment and inconvenience, and we are very grateful for your understanding in this difficult time in which we must prioritize Chris’s health,” the group added.
They also confirmed that fans will need to “save your tickets as they will be valid for the new rescheduled dates.”
“This will happen in early 2023 and will be announced very soon. However, we will also honor all ticket refund requests, which will be available at the point of sale. We are optimistic that Chris will return to good health after the medical break. prescribed and look forward to resuming touring as soon as possible. According to the group’s official website, their tour will resume on October 25 at the River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina. They will perform 10 performances between October 25 and November 8, before taking the rest of the year off. After rescheduled Brazil dates in early 2023, they will perform again on May 17, 2023 for a series of shows in Coimbra, Portugal. His tour is currently scheduled to conclude on July 19, 2023 in Amsterdam.
