Since the breakup was announced Christopher Nolan With Warner and his new idyll with Universal, expectations about his new feature film shot up even more than they usually do when a project by the British filmmaker is announced. Today, with the awesome trailer for ‘Oppenheimer’ we can see that, regardless of the producer or genre, Nolan will always remain Nolan.
Let’s go, atoms
In just a couple of minutes, ‘Oppenheimer’ shows us that we are facing a biopic author with all the formal hallmarks —and, most likely, narratives— brand of the house; running as one of the great premieres of a 2023 film course that already has a considerable number of potential bombings in its silo.
cillian murphy, who collaborated for the first time with Christopher Nolan in ‘Batman Begins’ giving life to the Scarecrow, will be in charge of bringing to the screen the figure of J. Robert Oppenheimer, considered one of the fathers of the atomic bomb. Along with him will be, among others, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, and Benny Safdierounding out a dream cast.
However, if there’s one thing that excites me personally about the title, it’s that it reunites Nolan with cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema after their impressive work on ‘Interstellar,’ ‘Dunkirk,’ and ‘Tenet.’ For the occasion, and of course, director and DOP have chosen to shoot this historical epic on photochemical 65mmmaking ‘Oppenheimer’ the first film in history to include material IMAX black and white captured on film.
To be able to enjoy the new Christopher Nolan we will have to wait for the July 21 of the next 2023.
