Christina Riccicurrent star of ‘Yellowjackets’ and the legendary 90’s Wednesday Addams he has a major regret in his career. Speaking with the WTF podcast, the actress has confessed why she hates (or at least she doesn’t like) her performance in another great movie of the decade: ‘casper‘.
Adapted from the Harvey comics, Ricci played Kat, a 13-year-old girl who, upon moving into a new house with her father (Bill Pullman), befriends the affable ghost of a boy. A role that was one of his last as a “child star” and it came to him in full transition through the early years of adolescence.
A bad moment
In the words of the actress, her big problem with that film is that she was having a bad time in her life:
“If you really watch ‘Casper,’ I’m horrible in it. People get very angry when I say that. Because I’m like, “No, it’s a wonderful movie.” Because it’s a childhood treasure for people, but I’m horrible at it. I was 13 and a lot was going on in my life. Everything was very difficult. I was always upset and I don’t think I tried very hard to be honest. Shamefully, I have to say, I don’t think I tried as hard as I should have. Without much commitment. It took me a long time to become a functional adult.”
Although he did not like his performance at all, Ricci would receive the Saturn Award (an award specialized in fantastic genres) for best performance by a young actor. Although it received a lukewarm reception among critics, the film was one of the highest grossing of the year, grossing 288 million dollars against a budget of 55.
In addition to season 2 of ‘Yellowjackets’, we will soon be able to see Christina Ricci in Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’.
