The actor plays the new villain of Marvel Studios, Gorr the Butcher of Godsin the expected Thor: Love and Thunder. He is a very dark character who goes after the divinities of the entire galaxy to make them pay for some unknown sins. This character is crying out for revenge and it doesn’t seem like he’s going to stop until he’s satisfied, no matter how many gods he has to take down along the way. In an interview for the spring issue of D23 magazine Disneyboth Marvel Studios actors talked about how Christian Bale behaved on the set of Thor: Love and Thunder. Chris Hemsworth acknowledges that the actor’s presence was palpable when he entered the set characterized as Gorr the Butcher of Gods. For her part, Tessa Thompson explained that the star managed striking a mind-boggling balance in playing a completely terrifying villain in a film that otherwise has a rather light-hearted tone. This was the conversation between the two interpreters.
- Chris Hemsworth: “The rest of us were in a world of improvisation, comedy and fun. Then Christian Bale would walk onto the Marvel Studios set and we would all shut up. We’d look at each other and say, ‘Oh my God!’ It was really intense, really scary.”
- Tessa Thompson: “He managed to pull off a genuinely amazing line. He needed to be terrifying, but he also needed to work in the context of our colourful, dynamic and irreverent world.”
