Prince Harry today launched another attack on King Charles III’s wife Camilla, calling her “dangerous” and a “villain”, as he continues to promote his new memoir, Spare.
The Duke of Sussex, 38, opened up about the queen consort during his interview with CBS News 60 Minutes host Anderson Cooper, who questioned Harry about various allegations he made about Camilla in the pages of the book.
Recalling the 1995 interview in which his mother, Princess Diana, referred to Camilla as the “third person in their marriage”, Harry says this admission made the now queen consort a “villain”, adding: ” She needed to rehabilitate her image.”
According to Harry, who also reveals in his book that he and William “begged” their father not to marry Camilla, this desire to transform her public image made her “dangerous.”
She accuses her stepmother of “trading information” with the press in an attempt to get more positive stories written about her, before suggesting that her “connections” with the media would end with “people or bodies left on the street.”
“(Her need to rehabilitate her image) made her dangerous because of the connections she was forging within the British press,” he told Cooper. “And there was an open willingness on both sides to exchange information. And with a family based on hierarchy, and with her on her way to being queen consort, there would be people or bodies on the street because of it.”
Harry also claims that what he saw as Camilla’s desire to “be on the front page (and) have positive stories written about (her)” stemmed from her family’s belief that positive media coverage would “enhance her reputation.” or it would increase the chances of her being accepted as a monarch by the British public.”
‘”If you are led to believe, as a family member, that being on the front page, having positive headlines, positive stories written about you, will enhance your reputation or increase your chances of being accepted as a monarch by the British public, then that It’s what you’re going to do,” he added.
Princess Diana’s interview with the BBC’s Martin Bashir, in 1995, marked the first time she publicly addressed claims that Carlos and Camilla had an affair during their marriage.
“We were three in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded,” said Lady Di at the time.
Furthermore, Prince William admitted, he initially refused to believe that Lady Di was dead and that they both believed that she would “call us and join her”.
He revealed that he took psychedelic drugs such as ayahuasca and psilocybin as “experimental treatments” and says they “wiped the… misery of loss” for him.
Prince Harry also assured that he was “not invited” on the plane that his family took to Balmoral when he learned that Queen Elizabeth II was not in good health.
Finally, he suggested that he and Meghan would never give up their titles because “what difference would it make?” and defended his decision to publicly voice his grievances against his family, suggesting that public attacks are the only “language they might understand.”
