Every once in a while a new season or a new anime series is released that sweeps everything away for a few days and is the cucumber of the moment. Aside from word of mouth, one of the quickest and easiest ways to see how well this or that series is doing is by taking a look at fan ratings on sites like MyAnimeList.
For years the highest position on the list has been held by ‘Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood’, which is considered one of the best anime series everalthough from time to time a new queen arrives to take the throne from him.
Can’t compete with the Elrics
The most recent chapter of ‘Shingeki no Kyojin’ got it briefly, and also ‘Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War’ with its premiere, but it was ‘Oshi no Ko’ the one that seemed to have taken the place from the Elric brothers definitively.
He idol anime has broken audience records and had a historic premiere with scores of 9.36, surpassing the 9.11 of ‘Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood’. As the chapters have progressed, the score of ‘Oshi no Ko’ has gradually and slowly decreased, but in the end it has ended up falling to second place on the list.
At the time of writing this article ‘Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood’ has returned to first place with a score of 9.10with ‘Oshi no Ko’ following close behind with 9.08.
If the season continues to be as good as it has been up to now, it should not be ruled out that it will take the lead again later on, especially when it comes to an end… But Hiromu Arakawa’s masterpiece is a tough nut to crack and he hasn’t earned his reputation for nothing.
The ugly part (there always has to be some) is that some ‘Oshi no Ko’ fans have already started accusing their rivals of giving the idol anime a bad rating to protect the position of ‘Fullmetal Alchemist’. And seeing that theirs has also gone down for the first time in a long time, it seems that the “other side” is also getting organized… So let’s hope that in the next few days people don’t walk with the mouse loose and start messing it up with the scores.
