The image that foreigners have of Mexicans may be full of stereotypes or at least that is what a British television station revealed with the cooking program Great British Bake Off when in an episode of the Mexican week they made their presenters and guests wear serapes, hats and maracas in a somewhat mocking way.
To the producers of Show they found the idea amusing. However, Mexicans were quick to speak out against it, mentioning that this only fosters violent stereotypes against their country of origin.

The outrage began when presenters and guests at the Mexican week were dressed in serapes, hats, maracas and even mustaches. Also, Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding, hosts of Great British Bake Off, they started the Show with a mention of Mexican jokes and even changed their accent, trying to imitate the accent of Mexican speech.
– I feel that we should not make Mexican jokes because some people might get upset.
– Not even John?
– Not even Juan

Latino and Mexican Internet users were quick to speak out against the Showwhich far from entertaining, only generates erroneous stereotypes.
Despite the controversy, comments and even requests for apologies and definitive cancellation of the program, neither executives nor producers in charge of the Show have spoken on the subject to offer an apology or clarify the issue.
