Although Logan Roy is one of the most sinister characters in the Succession series, his interpreter, actor Brian Cox, shows his side of solidarity against the Hollywood writers’ strike
Scottish actor Brian Cox put Logan Roy’s evil aside in Succession and expressed his support for the striking screenwriters in Hollywood, who, he stressed, are “the primary forces” behind creative work and, therefore, must “be rewarded for their true worth.

Brian Cox, who complained about the premature end of his tyrannical character Logan Roy on HBO’s hit series Succession, called his British creator Jesse Armstrong a “genius” on the BBC.
Thousands of television and film writers in the United States began a strike on May 2 due to the failure of negotiations with the main studios and platforms, particularly regarding their remuneration.
They also demand minimum guarantees to obtain stable jobs and a greater part of the benefits generated by streaming.
This social movement has an immediate impact on some television programs, and in the longer term on series and films scheduled to be released this year.
Succession is a chronicle of a family of ultra-rich brothers who fight for the empire of their patriarch, Logan Roy, inspired, among others, by the Australian-American Rupert Murdoch.
The series was a success among critics and the public.
Cox also spoke of the series finale: “I take it for granted – I didn’t see the ending – that my character was right because I knew all this was going to happen.“.
