The veteran actor will participate in a career retrospective conversation prior to receiving the award, which recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to American cinema.
“I am so excited that we are celebrating Brendan Fraser at SBIFF. It has given us so many amazing movie memories and now he delivers the best performance of his career,” festival executive director Roger Durling said in a statement.
The award will be presented on February 14, 2023, exactly on Valentine’s Day, at the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara.
Fraser recently surprised by his great physical change to be able to give life to “Charlie”, a middle-aged man with morbid obesity who reaches 272 kilograms of weight.
The also star of great films such as George of the Jungle, Encino Man and The Mummy, is generating enthusiasm for the next edition’s Oscar for best actor.
