These months we are covering ourselves with glory with series cancellations (and their disappearance from platforms), and in case we had few on the list Adult Swim just snipped several of its anime.
More funerals to the list
Crunchyroll and Adult Swim reached an agreement several years ago to produce anime series starting with ‘Blade Runner: Black Lotus’, a series set in the ‘Blade Runner 2049’ timeline. The series took off on Crunchyroll and Toonami in November 2021, but will not have any more episodes.
Another series that are carried forward are the cuts is ‘Shenmue: The Animation‘, which started this year to adapt video games and has run out of a second season. ‘Fena: Pirate Princess’, ‘Lazo Wulf’ and ‘Tigtone’ have also been struck down and they will have no continuation.
The issue is that these series have not only been canceled, but have already been removed from the Adult Swim website. Jason DeMarcothe vice president of Adult Swim, has confirmed it from Twitter, although he also reminds us that we can still see the anime from Crunchyroll.
Sorry guys. This happened. You can still watch all of the anime on Crunchyroll and it will still be available as digital downloads. And yes, it’s looking like no S2 of Shenmue, even though sadly- it did well enough that we were gearing up for S2. Maybe one day… https://t.co/WpM3O6NcSC

“Sorry guys. This has happened. You can still watch the entire anime on Crunchyroll and it will be available for digital download,” DeMarco said. “And yes, it looks like there will be no ‘Shenmue’ season 2, although sadly it worked out well and we were preparing to do it. Maybe one day.”
With everything going on at Warner Bros., the anime side of the company is also going downhill. For now ‘Blade Runner: Black Lotus’ is no longer available on HBO Max, although the co-productions with Crunchyroll seem to remain safe on the platform and are not going to move from there. So now it’s time to wait and cross your fingers so that no more series are carried forward.
