The film is a spin-off of 2020’s Birds of Prey, in which we saw this version of Dinah Lance debut, accompanied by Cassandra Cain, Harley Quinn, Huntress and Renée Montoya. And although beyond the appearance of Margot Robbie in The Suicide Squad nothing more is known about her character or the rest of the cast, the only one confirmed to advance with the story of her heroine was Jurnee Smollett.
The Black Canary project is developed by screenwriter Misha Green, as confirmed in 2021 by Smollett herself on her Twitter account, when she wrote: “I guess the canary is out of the cage! So excited to finally embark on this adventure with my creative soul sister @MishaGreen.”
There are no further details about Black Canary, nor about dates or cast.
