Receiving a gift does not always bring you joy, as there are high chances that what goes inside the box is not exactly what you wanted… and the cinema has taught us on multiple occasions. We are going to see some of those movies in which it became clear to us that the intention is not always what counts.
‘The gift’
There’s a knock at the door and there’s a gift waiting for you outside. From your neighbor, a friendly but somewhat disturbing person, who is also an old schoolmate but seems to have a dark secret… Will you open it?
‘Gremlins’

When they say it’s better not to give away animals, they mean it. Because even though what comes out of the box is an adorable stuffed-looking critter, it comes with instructions: Do not get them wet, do not feed them after midnight and do not give them sunlight. What could go right?
‘Knives in the Back: The Mystery of the Glass Onion’

Giving gifts to your group of friends is complicated and even more so if one of them is rich and decides to send you all some mysterious encrypted boxes, full of riddles. If I were you, I would think twice before opening it… unless you’re Benoit Blanc and you have a research suit.
‘Devil Doll’

Be careful giving dolls to your children. Don’t be fooled by that friendly little face and its nice canned phrases: may have the spirit of a serial killer insidewaiting for the opportune moment to launch to stab innocents.
‘Haru in the kingdom of cats’

Knowing how to refuse a gift is also important. Although of course, when you save a cat, the last thing you expect is that it comes a whole army of cats to fill your house with catnip, as thanks for having helped their cat leader. When you find yourself dragged into the cat kingdom against your will, you don’t find them so funny anymore.
‘Jumanji’

eye too if they give you a board game (or you find it hidden at home and you think it’s your Christmas present). Because maybe you end up landing on the wrong square and you pass 26 years trapped in the jungleor you cause a stampede, your house floods, you turn into a monkey… you never know.
