Austin Butler has gained worldwide fame since last year thanks to his work on the tape “Elvis”directed by Baz Luhrmann and in which he plays Elvis Presley. Now the 31-year-old actor declared that Vanessa Hudgens -with whom he had a long relationship- was the one who told him that he had to incarnate the king of rock and roll.
In interview with Los Angeles Times Butler spoke about that defining moment in her career: “A month before I found out that Baz was doing the movie, I went to see the Christmas lights with a friend and there was an Elvis Christmas song on the radio. I was singing, my friend looked at me and said, ‘You have to play Elvis.’ I said, ‘Oh, that’s such a long shot.’”
Fans easily knew that the “friend” Austin was referring to was Hudgens, as they were dating for ten years.so the actor finally had to accept that it was about her: “We had been together for so long and she had this kind of clairvoyant moment, so I really owe her a lot for believing in me.” For his leading role in the movie “Elvis” Butler is nominated this year for the Oscar for Best Actorcompeting in the shortlist with brendan fraser, Colin Farrel, Paul Mescal Y Bill Nighy.
