Netflix has finally managed to win the Emmy for best animated series of the yearWell, ‘Arcane’ has managed to win that award, thus rising above ‘Bob’s Burgers’, ‘Rick and Morty’, ‘The Simpsons’ and ‘What if…?’, the other four series that aspired to get that precious award.
In this way, ‘Arcane’ becomes the first streaming animated series to win this award. Until now, several had been nominated – incomprehensible that ‘BoJack Horseman’ never took the cat to the water and also that he was barely an applicant twice – but they had all gone home empty.
Released in November last year, ‘Arcane’ quickly became a phenomenon, which led Netflix not to hesitate too much when announcing its renewal for a second season. Unfortunately, we still have no news on when we can expect the new episodes of the series.
Christian Linkeco-creator of ‘Arcane’, was in charge of collecting the Emmy, commenting on the following in his acceptance speech:
Thank you for this. It is something very important for us, since we come from video games. It’s been amazing to see how the world embraces our characters and our stories, so thanks to Netflix, who believed in us from the beginning, thanks to Riot Games, who worked on all the IP… and to all the people who have been with our game and with ‘League of Legends’ for the last 12 years or so, which helped make it as big as it is now…
