The audience war is something common in the networks (after all, everyone wants to get the best rating pinch) but in these last two weeks we have witnessed a very entertaining duel between Antena 3 and Telecinco. Although the Mediaset chain broke its losing streak with The Island of Temptations, Antena 3 has won by a landslide with its two star programs: ‘The Anthill’ and ‘The Wife’.
landslide victory
Antena 3 is on a roll but yesterday, September 22, it reached a historical record. It was thanks to ‘The Anthill’, the program of Pablo Motos, which was visited by footballer Joaquín Sánchez. If already in his previous visit he achieved some very favorable numbers, he has beaten his own mark with a 23.8% share and 3,095,000 viewers.
The program was not only the absolute leader of the night, but it was also the most watched episode of the season and the second most watched in history from ‘El Hormiguero’ (tied with that of Isabel Pantoja and surpassed in first place by that of Pablo López).
That’s not all, since the final episode of ‘The Wife’, the miniseries that has been the leader of the night during all its broadcasts (with the exception of Wednesday the 21st, when it was displaced by The Island of Temptations), has triumphed once again. italian fiction concluded with 19.2%, its best share quotaand 1,775,000 viewers.
And how has ‘Nightmare in Paradise’ gone? From the beginning, it was clear that Antena 3 used ‘The Wife’ as direct competition against the new Telecinco reality show (modifying its grid days before to make them coincide) and, once again, the Mediaset program has lagged behind again, with an 11.2% share and 994,000 viewers.
This confirms (for the umpteenth time) the upward trend of Antena 3 and, specifically, of ‘El Hormiguero’, in what has been the best week in its history, with an average of 19.8% among the four programs broadcast.
