With the return of “The Queen of the South” to the screens of Telemundo, Univision was forced to unleash its heaviest artillery and revealed that in its primetime slot it will premiere “The stepmother”production that marks the return of the actress Aracely Arambula to Televisa.
Both stories have something in common, they both feature strong women who come back from a personal hell willing to clear their name, and more importantly, These characters are played by two of the greatest actresses on Spanish television: Kate Del Castillo in “La Reina del Sur” and Aracely Arámbula in “La Madrastra”.
War announced in primetime?
Contrary to what they would have thought, neither Telemundo nor Univision are eager to measure themselves in a schedule as heavy as primetime. Although the red T channel has already proven the success of Kate Del Castillo in previous seasons with “La Reina del Sur”, she will not be seen head-on with “La Madrastra” by Aracely Arámbula.
The new version of “La Madrastra” will not occupy the 9pm slot as previously thought, and it will not arrive on October 18 either, but will premiere a day earlier and at the 10pm slot. This tried-and-tested formula gives the audience the opportunity to first engage with the story and simply change the channel so they don’t miss a thing.
This leaves the third season of “La Reina del Sur” with a relatively easy competition where Univision would be willing to lose: the new version of “Los Ricos Tambien Lloran”, which has been broadcast since last September.
