January has started brimming with anime premieres, and this month is finally here too Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre‘. The horror anthology has been made to beg, but this week it opens in Netflix and it has left us just in time with the best look to date.
Tales of the most macabre
This anthology will adapt up to 20 stories of Junji Ito, some of which have never been seen in anime format before. Yes, we had the ‘Junji Ito Collection’ years ago, but ‘Tomie’ or ‘The Whispering Woman’ will be very big news in the series.
Shinobu Tagashira He is directing the anthology for Studio Deen, with Kaoru Sawada as the screenwriter and Yuki Hayashi as the soundtrack composer. ‘Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre’ arrives on Netflix on January 19, with which we have it practically on top. Until now we had seen some advances, but now the final trailer gives us a better look at all the horror stories that we will be able to see in a few days.
Initially the anthology will consist of 12 chapterssome dedicated solely to a complete story and others adapting several in small segments.
It is not the only anime based on Junji Ito stories that we have in sight, since it is still pending the anime series of ‘Uzumaki’although the studio revealed a few months ago that it needs more time to properly care for the quality of the work and there is still no scheduled release date.
