A few days ago the award nominations were announced oscarand the British Andrea Riseborough competes in the shortlist for Best Actress for the independent cut tape “To Leslie”which has generated controversy due to the comments that have previously arisen regarding his work in said film.
The Board of Governors of the Hollywood Academy received emails mentioning the actress’s nomination, and at the same time it was announced that artists such as Courteney Cox, Gwyneth Paltrow, Frances Fisher and Edward Norton have reportedly promoted Riseborough verbally during the last days of voting which result in the final competitors.
This Tuesday there will be a meeting to make it known if the rules were broken in terms of promoting Andrea’s work by comparing it with that of other actresses -What cate blanchettprotagonist of the film “Tár”-, which is prohibited: “In particular, any tactic that points to “the competition” by name or title is expressly prohibited.”
In “To Leslie” Riseborough plays the titular character, a woman who wins a lottery prize and ends up spending the money on alcohol and drugs. She is competing in the Best Actress category with Blanchett, Ana de Armas, Michelle Williams and Michelle Yeoh. For several months many critics have claimed that Viola Davis would be nominated in that list for the film “The woman king”but in the end it was not like that, generating even more surprise due to the unexpected inclusion of Andrea.
