With the first two episodes of ‘Masterchef 11’ recently released, the first controversy of the edition has not been long in coming (if it can be considered that way). One of the applicants has revealed in her networks that the macrocasting with which the season started was all “pure show”.
“A thousand hours there being cold”
The start of season 11 of ‘Masterchef’ showed the megalithic casting carried out in the edition with the most contestants to date: 1,000 candidates selected from the 70,000 who applied to the preselection
Finally, only 23 obtained the guaranteed pass to the set of the contest. Cris Ortiz, one of the unselected candidates, told through her TikTok account what her experience was like, in which they had to record the same shots twice because Jordi Cruz was late:
They summoned us at 9 in the morning on a Sunday in December in the Plaza del Palacio Real. The chefs arrived but only Pepe and Samantha were there. Jordi had missed a flight and we had to record all the takes without him, and then we did them again with him.
When they were served, several tasters came to try the dishes but, according to Ortiz, “it was pure show” and the interviews they focused on the candidates they already knew they were going to choose:
It was a real shame. A thousand hours there, freezing cold, without informing us of anything and the team out there eating. After hours, they finally arrived to deliver the spoons. I was decided before going to the casting. We watched as people who had refused their plate were given a spoon, even some who had not shown up that day for the casting.
