The day has come: El Corte Inglés has decided to modernize its customer cards, which have been in existence since 1996. We tell you about all the changes that the department stores have announced, from their new look to how to replace your old card or sign up now that the classic card disappears.
The first (and most important) change is that the new version works like an international credit card. In other words, it can be used in any country or establishment to split purchases and it no longer needs to be only at El Corte Inglés or a store belonging to the group. The card has two independent lines of credit: one for group stores and another for external stores.
It will also change its appearance and stop being that easily recognizable corporate green card. Now the company is going to change it for its other iconic shade: white. In addition, the Mastercard logo will appear, the associated financial company that makes it possible for the El Corte Inglés card to now be an international credit card.
Finally, the new card changes its magnetic stripe for a microchip and will no longer have issuance and maintenance fees. This is stated by El Corte Inglés, although there are people at the store counters prepared to explain everything to customers.
