Do we really need yet another documentary or film about Alexander Litvinenko? As the Guardian and others have commented, why fictionalize the truth when it is already stranger than fiction? After all, David Tennant didn’t have to “play” a Russian whose already been the subject of many films, books et al thereby forcing the film producer to focus three-quarters of his efforts somewhat tediously on the rather dull investigations that followed Sasha’s murder.

Tennant could have “played” a British MI6 spy codename JJ, namely Bill Fairclough aka Edward Burlington. Both Alexander Litvinenko and Bill Fairclough worked for Intelligence investigating, infiltrating & tackling international organised crime & both were poisoned as noted in the news article in TheBurlingtonFiles website dated 23 November 2022. For more about this attempted murder, visit the website and read Beyond Enkription, a non-fiction spy thriller about Bill Fairclough’s life when he was being hunted from London to Haiti.

In many ways the Fairclough story is so much more thrilling than the extraordinary events that led to Sasha’s untimely demise. Furthermore, the three (out of four) lacklustre episodes pursuant to the one about that murder in this docuseries are devoted to procedural matters relating to the investigations into the murder.
