Years ago MGM was working on ‘Tomb Raider 2’, but the studio never quite got the courage to go ahead with the sequel to the entertaining film starring alice vikander. The news now is that the company has canceled the project in the saddest way possible, because it has simply let so much time pass that it has lost the film rights to the franchise.
new reboot
Apparently, MGM had until this past May to definitively greenlight ‘Tomb Raider 2’, but that was not the case. This has led to an auction war to get hold of the rights and make a new adaptation of the popular video games in which Vikander would no longer participate as Lara Croft.
At the moment it is unknown who would be the new protagonist and also who would take care of the directing tasks. Ultimately, what works for one studio is different than what motivates another. The only sure thing according to The Wrap is that G.K. Films is weighing several offers.
Although neither study has been revealed, it would be rare for Netflix was not among those interested. After all, she has already shown his interest in the franchise by launching an anime series starring Lara Croft. And let’s not forget either that on the streaming platform they are crazy to get some great franchise.
