The on-set weapons control officer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, will also be charged. An assistant to Principal David Halls, who was tasked with delivering the gun to Alec Baldwin, accepted a misdemeanor charge, prosecutors said.
The charges were announced by Mary Carmack-Altwies, attorney for the First Judicial District of New Mexico, after several months of investigation into the case that occurred in October 2021.
“After a thorough review of the evidence and the laws of the State of New Mexico, I have determined that there is sufficient evidence to file criminal charges against Alec Baldwin and other members of the ‘Rust’ film crew,” said Carmack-Altwies.
If convicted, Alec Baldwin and Hannah Gutierrez-Reed will face up to 18 months in prison as well as a $5,000 fine.
“No one is above the law and everyone deserves justice,” added prosecutor Mary Carmack-Altwies.
