In 2011, the HBO network broadcast the first of eight seasons of Game of Thrones, a series inspired by the work The Song of Fire on Ice by author George RR Martin.
It is well known that Moore’s opinion on television series is not the best, and Game of Thrones did not escape criticism from the British author.
“Having seen only a few episodes of Game of Thrones, and this is not a condemnation of that, I haven’t seen more than that, but it seemed to me like it was The Sopranos, set in fifth century Dorset.”.
Moore noted that the dtama set in Westeros looked like a mob movie but not a medieval epic.
“It’s a family saga with bloody betrayals and all, but it was in fifth-century Dorset instead of upstate New York or whatever.”.
Why Game of Thrones didn’t hook Alan Moore?
The author behind Watchmen, V for Vendetta and The Killing Joke, is a critic of television programs, as well as the works on which they are based, and explained what characteristics a work must meet for the British to surrender to it .
“I want to be almost elevated to a different neurology by a fantasy story. I want something that really changes my view of reality while I’m immersed in that book, that allows me all kinds of different possibilities that I hadn’t considered. That’s what I tend to want from fantasy”.
