Last week the bombshell came that ‘Sand Land’ had an adaptation underway, with which we had in the air the possibility of a new anime or video game based on a story from Akira Toriyama.
With the Jump Festa on top, it was to be expected that there would be more information in progress, and among all the news of the event… well, a trailer with more chichita has also arrived and the confirmation that indeed a sand land anime for next year.
In search of the lost lake
Of course, the exact format of the anime has not been specified, so ‘Sand Land’ could end up being a miniseries or even a movieconsidering that the story is contained in a single manga volume.
What has been confirmed is that it is a co-production between several studios, with Sunrise, Kamikaze Douga and Anima involved in the development of the anime. Sunrise are best known for their work on the ‘Mobile Suit Gundam’ and ‘Code Geass’ franchises while Kamizaze Douga and Anima have worked on ‘Batman Ninja’ and ‘Oni: Legend of the God of Thunder’, respectively.
With the trailer in hand, it seems that we will have cgi animation, but for now the first glimpses are looking good and Toriyama’s style has carried over well. In principle ‘Sand Land’ anime will take off during 2023although now it is time to wait for the release date and if it will reach television, cinema, or even directly to streaming.
