Since its premiere on December 18, 2009, Avatar grossed approximately $27 million and in just three weeks became the highest-grossing film of all time, surpassing titanicafrom 1997, directed by the same director, James Cameron.
After the success of the first installment, the director immediately announced his intentions to record a sequel and expand the incredible universe of the Na’vi. However, no one imagined that it would take more than a decade to make it a reality. If you are one of those who cannot wait any longer to see the most anticipated sequel, we have good news, because they have already released the first official trailer of what will be Avatar 2.
After 13 long years of waiting, the second installment of the saga directed by James Cameron finally released the first images announcing that its next release date will be December 16, 2022. The official trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water was released this Monday at CinemaCon, where it clearly shows that this time, the aquatic world of Pandora will be the protagonist of the story, unlike the first part, which focused on the planet’s vegetation.
In the recording of just over a minute, you can mostly see the blue hue of its oceans and lakes, as well as spectacular creatures passing under the water. Taking care of the animation down to the smallest detail, in this installment, James Cameron made an effort to make the faces of his protagonists look more real, taking into account that the film will be seen in 3D and IMAX format.
Its premiere will only be in theaters, to later reach the platform of streaming Disney +, as is customary in the company’s tapes.
Can the sequel break its own box office record? There is little left to find out. For now, here we leave you the first preview of Avatar 2.
