Nearly four weeks have passed since the death in police custody of the morale of the young Iranian Mahsa Amini, which triggered a massive wave of demonstrations across the country, sparking the biggest challenge in the history of Iran’s clerical regime.
Through the various social networks, celebrities and personalities from around the world joined the growing rejection of the authoritarian institution of the Middle Eastern country, demanding justice for the death of Mahsa, freedom for women and the end of the Islamist regime, which has tormented its citizens, especially young women.
However, the one who has generated the most noise is the Iranian actress Elnaaz Norouzi, known for her work in the Netflix series Sacred Gamesafter joining the massive protest of women against the morality police to assert their right to dress as they want.
Through a video posted on her official Instagram account, Elnaaz, 30, joined the claims, removing several layers of clothing to signal what she wants to wear and that no one can stop her.
Every woman, everywhere, no matter where she comes from, should have the right to wear what she wants and when and where she wants to wear it. No man or other woman has the right to judge her or ask her to dress differently.
Surprisingly, shortly after its publication, the social network removed the clip even though it did not violate any rules. But several users retrieved it and posted it on Twitter.
Protests continue across Iran following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini at the hands of regime morale police for not wearing the hijab “correctly”. The women have removed the veil. In some cases they have even set it on fire, while others have cut off a lock of hair in protest and mourning.
The morality police are estimated to have killed nearly 200 people since protests broke out over Mahsa’s death. In addition, an Iranian human rights group claims that 19 of those deaths have been children.
