The actress Hilary Duff had an affair with Aaron from 2001 to 2004, and stated the following: “It’s really sad that a week after Aaron’s death there is a publisher who seems to be recklessly publishing a book to profit from this tragedy without taking adequate time or care to verify the validity of their work.”
Duff referred in his comments to the memoir Aaron Carter: an incomplete story of an incomplete lifewritten by journalist andy symondswho planned to release it on November 15. Now he has decided to put it offand in a statement the publisher BallastBooks He disclosed that “Aaron Carter wanted his story told and for our client, Andy Symonds, a highly respected journalist and author, to tell that story in all its beauty and rawness…Out of respect for the Carter family, my client has decided to postpone publication of the book at this time. Mr. Carter was not only a celebrity, but he was also a father, a brother, a son and a friend to many who still mourn him.”
As the new release date is revealed, Aaron’s publicist made a statement to Page Six pointing out that the deceased artist did not agree with the edition of that book: “Halfway through working on that book Aaron said, ‘I don’t want anything to do with this,’ and stopped, so the fact that the publisher says it’s greenlit, it’s not true.” For his part Symonds has defended his work with the following statements: “Aaron had the right, like everyone else, to tell his story. As a journalist I am honored that you have chosen me to help you do that. In addition to being cathartic for him, Aaron hoped this book would help others struggling with addiction and mental illness. I hope and believe that he will.”
