Although Henry Cavill managed to keep the role of Superman for the Man of Steel tape, a video game was nothing away from that story not happening
In 2013, the Superman mythology experienced a reboot with Man of Steel, with Henry Cavill in the role of the Man of Steel, something that could not have happened because of a video game.

Cavill is not only one of the most recognizable actors thanks to his portrayal of Superman, he is also a huge fan of video games, especially PC games, and is a fan of the World of Warcraft game.
In an anecdote compiled by the Liveabout site, Cavill recalled in an interview with Conan O’Brien the first time Zack Snyder contacted Cavill, the actor was busy playing World of Warcraft.
“I was playing this game and you can’t save it. You can’t pause or anything and other people trust you to play on a team. And it was a highlight of the game”.
Just at that moment Zack Snyder calls Henry Cavill, but the actor ignored the call because he was playing.
“So the phone rings and I’m ignoring it because I’m not going to abandon these guys. And I look down (at the phone) and it’s Zack Snyder calling! So I reach for the phone and I missed the call from Zack Snyder, the one I’ve been waiting for, for Man of Steel.”.
Fortunately, Cavill returned Zack Snyder’s call and (as that commercial would say) the rest is history.
