Conceptualized in Croatia by Olinka Vištica and Dražen Grubisic, the “Museum of Broken Relationships” has visited 59 cities around the world and, in its passage through each destination, has been enriched and shaped into an extraordinary set of memories and belongings of people with the broken hearted, eager to leave a testimonial of her biography and move on.
About 71% of the objects donated refer to romantic relationships, couples, impossible loves; the others refer to another type of rupture or closure of the cycle, such as the loss of a relative, the end of a friendship, a job separation, the disappearance or death of a pet, etc. each with a very personal touch, but with which we can fully identify.
Museum of Broken Relationships
Among the cities he has passed through are: Los Angeles, Helsinki, Cairo, Sarajevo, London, Singapore, Manila, Amsterdam, Bucharest, Berlin, Brussels, Toronto, and Boise.
The stories of each of them are distinguished by being very personal, moving, endearing, inspiring, some funny, others invite reflection. The experiences that marked its protagonists and represent life experiences that must be taken into account with seriousness and respect, and that in one way or another, provoke different emotions in the visitors of the exhibition throughout the tour.
This exhibition seeks to give value to stories and common and everyday objects, which, when properly exhibited and with the attention they deserve, become worthy representatives of hundreds of stories and experiences that become extraordinary for the mere fact of being important to those who lived through them.
